THE GARDENS ON THE TOUR

Chris and Craig Wright: 484 Lawrence Circle, Langhorne, PA 19047
Tiptoe past the fairy garden on your way to the veranda-like patio. A stately 60 year old dogwood looms over the lovely tiered hillside gardens planted with spring bulbs and shade loving plants. From the pond you can see the two ivy covered topiary deer that Chris is creating. Don’t overlook the vegetable garden as you wend your way along the paths.

Scarlet Messina and Joe Rossa: 416 N. Bellevue Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047
Shan-gri-la: a beautiful place where life approaches perfection. That’s the feeling one gets when you round the house onto the outdoor living room patio. The almost two acre property is studded with 13 Japanese maples, wisteria, crepe myrtles and other specimen trees and shrubs. Take note of the two shag bark maple trees that line the steps leading into the park-like setting. Look for the boxwood maze.

Wendy and Dana Rollins: 153 N. Bellevue Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047
While restoring their historic Langhorne home, Wendy and Dana faced the daunting challenge of a backyard with 6 large trees, overgrown shrubs and no character or plants. Four years later one large tree remains to shelter a lovely patio that invites you to sit and relax. New beds of flowering shrubs and trees add to this work in progress. The vegetable garden is a focal point that is practical as well as ornamental.

Phil and Sara Sweeney: 937 Highpoint Circle, Langhorne, PA 19047
Thoreau had his Walden Pond; Phil has his Neshaminy Creek. Walk through the back yard to the path that takes you through a small canopy forest. Naturalized plants line the way to the table overlooking the drop to the creek below. As you amble along, take note of the beautiful table tops that Phil has crafted from tree trunks. Take time to sit and enjoy the quiet of the peaceful woods.

Jimmy and Jamie Gilpatrick: 205 W. Park Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047
You instinctively know that this is truly a “gathering place”. The spacious patio surrounded by tiered gardens can easily hold a small crowd for dining or just relaxing with the soothing ripples of the pond as backup music. Can you find the pond? Guests can get a refreshing drink at the adjacent bar. At the end of a busy, tiring day, the fully functioning bathtub in the greenhouse is a pleasant retreat.

Denise and Steve Reid: 202 W. Elm Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047
As you walk up the driveway, an interesting, many trunk crab apple tree shades the property. Go through the breezeway and on the right is a natural bamboo screen separating the property. The tall pines which surround the yard provide shade for a variety of hosta as well as secluded seating to escape the heat of a hot summer day.
